CORNELIUS – The newly organized Lake Norman Chapter of the nonprofit USA Dance held its Get-Acquainted Dance on Nov. 11.

The chapter’s next dance takes place Dec. 2, a Friday, at the Havana Social Club in the Palace Theater, 8325 Copley Drive. Angela Wood will lead an hour lesson in the rumba at 7:30 p.m., and the dance floor opens from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Admission costs $10 for USA Dance members, $15 for non-members and $5 for students with current ID.

According to its website, USA Dance is the national governing body for dancesport in the United States and, with 178 chapters, also represents social and recreational ballroom and Latin dancers in America, ranging from pre-schoolers to seniors. For dancesport, USA Dance is the official member organization of the United States Olympic Committee.
