LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Carolina students who are members of their school’s chapter of the Future Farmers of America may apply for a $1,000 college scholarship from Monty’s Plant Food Company, based in Louisville, Ky.

The manufacturer of plant and soil enhancement products for the agriculture, horticulture, turf and lawn and garden industries, in conjunction with the national Future Farmers of American organization, will give out four scholarships to high school seniors.

To be eligible for the prize students also must live on a family farm, plan to pursue post-secondary education, plan to study agronomy and crop science, sustainable agriculture, soil science or soil conservation, have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 and have participated in community service.

Scholarship applications are available online at www.ffa.org/scholarships. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15, and the scholarships will be awarded in May.
