CORNELIUS – An electrical arc fire in a main transformer at Electricities left nearly 2,700 people in Cornelius without power early Monday morning, Nov. 14, according to Craig Norfolk, electric systems manager for Electricities.
Most of the outages occurred east of Interstate 77 and caused Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to close Hough High, J.V. Washam Elementary and Cornelius Elementary schools for the day.
Some Davidson residents initially lost power as well, but crews quickly restored their service, Norfolk said.
