CORNELIUS – The student council at Cornelius Elementary School is holding a canned food drive until Nov. 17 to benefit the Loaves and Fishes food bank, housed at the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson.
Donations will be collected in classrooms, and student council members will prepare the items for delivery before Thanksgiving. Food in glass jars will not be accepted.
Donation requests by grade level are:
• Kindergarten, first grade and administrative staff: pasta.
• Second grade, third grade and teacher assistants: pasta sauce (no glass).
• Fourth grade, fifth grade and support staff: canned spaghetti and meatballs and canned meat products.
• Cafeteria staff and custodians: canned meat products.
The student council’s goal is to collect 1,500 food items.
