MOORESVILLE – On Saturday, Sept. 28, members of the LKN Remodelers and Cub Scout Pack 316 spent the morning island hopping around Lake Norman, cleaning up various spots around the water.
About a dozen young men ages 7 to 11 participated in the annual clean up project and experienced first hand the effects that littering has on the lake and its shores.
In 2006, the LKN Remodelers Council of the Lake Norman Homebuilders Association adopted an island through the NC Wildlife Federation program.  Every year since then, the council members have taken a morning after the heavy boating season to clean up their island and surrounding areas. This was the first year that the scouts joined in the effort.
“This was a great day for the scouts to have some fun together on the lake and help out with keeping the lake clean,” Cub Master Chris Frank said.
