CORNELIUS – Cornelius police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man believed to be involved in last week’s burning of a police cruiser at a pharmacy parking lot.
Police released security video of the man who was described as a heavy set, balding and older white male. He was first seen wearing a dark, button-up shirt then later seen wearing a light-colored button up shirt, police said.
The fire was reported around noon on Sept. 28, when someone noticed the car on fire in a Rite Aid parking lot. Two officers and a witness nearby were able to extinguish the blaze without injury.
Police found a small object behind the rear passenger tire that they said was responsible for the fire. It is unclear what that object is.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Cornelius Police Department at 704-892-7773.
