HUNTERSVILLE – North Mecklenburg High School invites the community to its 33rd annual barbecue fundraiser Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“This 33-year tradition promises the same delicious barbecue that always makes you wish you had ordered more,” the school said in a news release. “Over 7,000 pounds of barbecue is slowly cooked on-site in North Meck’s own southern-style barbecue pit.”
$8 tickets may be purchased online at www.showclix.com/event/57436, and meals may be ordered individually or in bulk. Buffet meals that feed 10 people are available for $80. Ticket sales end Oct. 14, but tickets are not required to purchase barbecue.
The barbecue is North Mecklenburg High’s only major fundraiser for the year. All profits from the sale go to fund teacher and student programs that include teacher mini-grants, scholarships and senior events.
The school asks each student to sell at least five tickets. Students who participate in the fundraiser will be entered into daily raffles and high-sellers will be rewarded with special prizes. More than $3,200 in product donations from local businesses will serve as sales incentives. Classes will also compete to sell the most tickets, and the top-selling class will be given “The Big Pig!” award.
