A Huntersville woman was charged in Iredell County with stealing a car from a business earlier this month.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jonalee Mills, of 12112 Mcintosh Drive in Huntersville, Oct. 5 after deputies said she tried to have a car that wasn’t hers destroyed at a salvage yard.

Although the car was to be scrapped by the owner, the owner never gave Mills permission to take it to Steward’s Salvage to be destroyed, deputies said.

Mills was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and was being held on a $5,000 bond at the Iredell County Detention Center.
