CHARLOTTE – The public engagement phase of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools superintendent search began Monday, Oct. 25, with the launch of an online survey asking students, parents and community members about qualities they want to see in the school district’s next leader.

Until Nov. 7, those interested in taking the survey may do so at www.next
superintendent.com. The survey will include questions about the importance of certain leadership traits, skills and abilities that the community believes the next superintendent should have. It also will include a demographic section and a section asking respondents if they work in the school district or have a child enrolled in one of its schools. Responses will remain confidential.

“Public engagement is vital for this process,” said Board of Education Chairman Eric Davis. “We want our community to help us find the best educational leader for CMS.”

The survey will be available in English and Spanish, and a separate survey will be available for district high school students to take.

Staff will use social media and community organizations to inform students and community members about the survey and encourage participation. After the public engagement phase is complete, the board will receive a summary of the survey results.
