HUNTERSVILLE – Members of the Huntersville Modern Woodmen of America chapter recently contributed $2,500 to support the Lake Norman Charter High School to help fund the Rachel’s Challenge program.

Through the Modern Women of America’s matching funds program, the Lake Norman Charter Parent and Teacher Organization raised and donated $3,200 to help fund the school initiative. The mission of Rachel’s Challenge is to “inspire, equip and empower every person to create a permanent, positive culture change in their school, business and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion,” a school news release said.

A presentation about the program was held at the school for students and community members Sept. 27. As a result, Lake Norman Charter started a Friends of Rachel club, which will work to develop ideas to help prevent bullying and promote a positive school environment through social and emotional education.

The Matching Fund program offers Modern Woodmen members nationwide the chance to show their support for a community cause, organization or individual in need by holding fundraisers. The fundraising projects contribute more than $6.5 million to community needs nationwide each year.
