HUNTERSVILLE – Ten members of the North Mecklenburg High School Debate and Speech Team competed at the Bob Jones Academy Tournament in Greenville, S.C. on Saturday, Oct. 15. The team competed against 27 schools from three states.

Junior James Williams and senior Lauren Calucag placed first in impromptu duet acting. Williams also placed fifth overall in humorous interpretation, receiving a bid to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in the spring.

Junior Colleen Watson placed fifth in original oratory.

The group will travel to Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw next week.
