DAVIDSON – Downtown Davidson, Inc. has teamed up with the town of Davidson to form the Davidson Civil Investment Commission, a new partnership that will retain Downtown Davidson, Inc’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and articulate a vision and town priorities for Davidson’s economic development, according to a press release from the town.

The former Downtown Davidson, Inc. board will become the advisory committee of the commission, Downtown Davidson Inc. president Drew Crawford said, and the town will have a voting member on the board.

New members and leadership should be in place in November.

The new Davidson Civil Investment Commission will follow the N.C. Main Street Center’s four-point approach: organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.

The commission will be comprised of advisory, marketing, design and economic development committees. Outgoing Davidson commissioner Margo Williams will chair the Advisory committee.
