International recording artist Mark Wood, an original member of the multi-platinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra and creator of the Viper electric violin, SV Stingray violin and Cobra cello, will bring his music education program, “Electrify Your Strings!” to Hough High School Oct. 24 and 25.

In addition to the free workshop, Wood also will perform in concert with middle and high school musicians as part of his program’s “Fire & Ice: Ignite the Passion Tour” Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Hough High School auditorium.

“The audience will be entertained by Wood’s original material, as well as his exciting arrangements of music by Led Zeppelin, Cream, The Beatles and more,” the news release said.

The All-Star Orchestra will include students from Bailey Middle, Hough, Mallard Creek, Independence, Harding University high schools and the Cornelius Youth Orchestra.

The concert is open to the public, and tickets are $15. All proceeds support the schools’ music education programs. Bailey Orchestra Patrons, the parent booster group responsible for planning the event, will sell dinner and concessions for guests during the show. Additional activities include a silent auction and an opportunity to meet Mark Wood and get his autograph. Sponsorships are available to local businesses interested in showing their support, email baileyorchestrapatrons@gmail.com for information.

Concert tickets may be purchased at Davidson Violins, 416-C S. Main St., Davidson, or through the Bailey Orchestra Patrons.
