Program tows 150 potential drunk drivers from area roads

CHARLOTTE – The “Tow to Go” program has taken more than 150 potential drunk drivers off local streets during the past two weeks, a news release about the milestone said.

The program, a partnership between AAA Carolinas and Budweiser, employs 120 contractors who transport drivers home if they are unable to secure a ride and are too drunk to drive.

On New Year’s Eve, program contractors picked up 46 people throughout Mecklenburg County.

“We are proud of how well the program worked,” said Dave Parsons, president and CEO of AAA Carolinas. “The holidays, especially New Year’s Eve, is a perfect time for everyone to discuss the dangers of drinking and driving.”
