New paper to cover Denver area
DENVER – On April 1, Carolina Weekly Newspaper Group will launch its seventh newspaper with the debut of the Denver Weekly.
“The Denver Weekly is the logical next step for our newspaper group to take in offering complete coverage to residents on all sides of Lake Norman and its individual communities,” Alain Lillie, owner of Carolina Weekly Newspaper Group, said. “We will now offer the residents of Denver, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville and the Mountain Island area newspapers that focus individually on their communities as well as the strength of four newspapers working together, a product unmatched in the Lake Norman market.”
Courtney Price, currently assistant editor of the Herald Weekly, will lead news coverage as editor of Denver Weekly, and Chris Hunt, the longtime sports writer for the Herald, will serve as sports editor. The mother-daughter team of Phyllis and April Rozzelle will assist Denver-area businesses with their advertising needs.
“Courtney and Chris have shown with their work for the Herald, Mountain Island Weekly and Mooresville Weekly that they understand how to cover a community like Denver. And the Rozzelles are hometown folks, with Phyllis’ parents and April’s grandparents living in Denver,” Lillie said.
Carolina Weekly Newspaper Group also publishes the South Charlotte Weekly, Matthews-Mint Hill Weekly and Union County Weekly. Together, the seven newspapers will have an audited circulation of 114,000. Find more information at the group’s website, www.carolinaweeklynewspapers.com.
