CORNELIUS – In an effort to increase the public’s awareness of local crime, the Cornelius Police Department recently joined Crimemapping.com.

The site enables the public to view up to 90 days worth of crime data in the community. To see data older than 90 days, contact the police department at 704-892-1363.

The site provides users the ability to receive crime alerts, analyze crime activity and search for crime near a particular location.

The department’s website, www.cornelius.org/police, contains information about how to find and use the map.
