MOORESVILLE – Lowe’s YMCA is accepting enrollments for its Livestrong at the YMCA, a program for adult cancer patients who are in or who have completed treatment. The center is also accepting enrollment for its Medical Referral program. Both programs offer eight-week sessions for men and women.

Starting Feb. 7, and meeting three times each week, 15 Livestrong participants will exercise on the fitness floor, have seated strength and stretch classes, and participate in water aerobics. The final session each week features group support and discussion.  The object of the Y’s partnership with cyclist Lance Armstrong is to make strides with fatigue, endurance and strength.

Participants in the Livestrong program have full access to YMCA facilities throughout the area during the program.  For more information and to enroll, contact Livestrong at the YMCA Facilitator Kim Reilly at 704-716-4026 or at

Doctors make recommendations to the medical referral program for guided exercise and nutrition help, as well as weekly blood pressure checks, weigh-ins and appointments with a trainer for most helpful exercises during the eight weeks.  Contact Jane Edmiston at 704-716-4090 for more information.
