Davidson Day eighth-graders Mark Fields and Ronald Albritton, and Lake Norman Charter eighth-grader Caleb White competed in Football University All-American games last weekend in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Fields caught a touchdown pass and returned kicks for the East team in the FBU’s Eighth-grade Limited Weight Eastbay Youth bowl, which was played Jan. 9. He also played cornerback and was named the game’s Defensive MVP.
On Jan. 10, Albritton started and played the entire Eastbay Youth All-American game between a squad of U.S. 14-and-under All-Stars and the Canadian 15-and-under National team. At defensive tackle, Albritton collected three sacks. White was a teammate of Albritton. As a cornerback, he forced a fumble that led to a 40-yard touchdown return. He also caught several passes at wide receiver. Team Canada won in a shootout, 42-37.
