North Mecklenburg High School took home seven trophies and 41 event medals following the district DECA competition Nov. 17 at Myers Park high School.
Of the 127 students that competed in the district competition, 90 are now eligible to compete at the state competition, which will be held in Greensboro in February.
The following students earned trophies and finalist medals:
Sarah Houck won 1st place in Apparel and Accessories Marketing, Natalie Kuzmanovich won 1st place in Hotel and Lodging Management; Jennifer Steen won 1st place in Restaurant Full Service Management, Michele Salpietra won 1st place in Quick Service Restaurant Management, Sara Tinsley won 2nd place in Apparel and Accessories Marketing; Matthew Coss won 3rd place in Retail Merchandising Series, and Pierce Gormley won 3rd place in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
The following students earned finalist medals:
Robert Kratz, for Apparel and Accessories Marketing; Davis Latham, for Business Service Management; Marieke Wood, for Food Marketing Series; Daniel Horowitz and Kylah Thorpe, for Hotel and Lodging Management; Derek Brodland, for Principles of Marketing; Madison Lennon, for Restaurant Full Service Management; Bre Blaney and Patrick Harrow, for Retail Merchandising Series.
The following students earned event finalist medals:
