CORNELIUS – The Cornelius Police Department recently received a matching grant to purchase fatal vision goggles, referred to as beer goggles, from the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Patrol.
The department will use the goggles to educate students and the public about the consequences and dangers of alcohol consumption. The kit allows people to experience how alcohol affects balance and equilibrium, peripheral vision, reactions and ability to respond at blood alcohol content levels ranging from .06 to .25. In addition, the kit comes equipped with lesson plans to incorporate into the classroom.
If your organization, institution, business, or classroom is interested in having a representative from the department speak about the dangers of alcohol consumption, contact Sgt. George Brinzey at 704-892-1363 or gbrinzey@corneliuspd.org.
