Cornelius Elementary students made history Dec. 4 at Charlotte Latin School, as the first Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools elementary school to compete in a Cyberkids Robotics competition and advance to the state level.
Of the 41 teams that competed Saturday, the Cornelius Elementary boys and girls teams, Cyber Jax and Robo Rock Stars, will advance to the state competition along with 17 other schools.
The Cyber Jax team earned 1st place for team work, and the Robo Rock Stars team earned 1st place for project presentation. The CyberKids Robotics is a STEM initiative that focuses on math, science, computer programming and critical thinking in a fun environment.
Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville sponsored the Cyber Jax team, and the Ingersoll Rand Company, sponsored the Robo Rock Stars team.
