HUNTERSVILLE – Officials from Carolinas HealthCare System launched a project that will add a freestanding emergency department and support services to CMC-NorthCross`, 16455 Statesville Road.

The expansion is the fourth facility of its type to be introduced in the region by CHS. The project is estimated at $8.8 million, will encompass about 17,000 square feet and is expected to open in fall 2011.

The emergency department at CMC-NorthCross will have nine treatment bays and two observation rooms.  Radiology services will include X-ray, ultrasound, mammography and CT scanning equipment, and the site will have an on-site laboratory and pharmacy.
