HUNTERSVILLE – For the second year, the consignment team at Assurance United Methodist Church will sponsor St. Nick’s Sack, a toy-only consignment sale for needy families, Dec. 3 and 4.

The sale is designed for families that need a cheaper alternative to expensive toys. Parents can buy gently used toys usually at discounts of 50 percent or more, and consignors can sell toys their children have outgrown.

People who want to sell toys should register at the church’s website, www.assuranceumc.org. The sale last from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 3, a Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 4, when prices are usually even lower.

Last year, the church at 9700 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road held the sale the weekend after Black Friday, and shoppers were standing in line early on the first day. Not long after the sale closes, organizers will bring in a handful of families to shop, and all remaining donated toys go to local agencies for area children.

“This sale is a blessing to so many,” Tina Springs, children’s ministry director at Assurance, said.  “The blessings range from those selling toys by making some much needed Christmas money to the many children in our area that will wake up on Christmas morning with their wishes fulfilled.”
