CORNELIUS – The Cornelius/Lake Norman Lions Club kicked off its second annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Cook House Restaurant on Torrence Chapel Road.
Local artist David Austin and two other artists from the Carolina Art Garden in Cornelius are judging the entries in this year’s contest.
Lions clubs sponsor the Peace Poster Contest to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere. Children 11 to 13 years old from Cornelius-area middle schools submit posters for the competition. Annually, children submit more than 350,000 entries worldwide. The local club will recognize local students in January.
