Editor,
Thank you to Frank DeLoache for his article on the many creek restoration projects in our area. I would like to respond to some of the Cedarfield residents who voiced concerns, as well as praise all involved in the project and the end results.
I, too, was concerned this summer with the massive construction undertaken to restore the creek systems in our area. However, after researching online and taking the initiative to contact (Project Manager) Jimmy Gordon directly, my fears were alleviated. He graciously took the time to explain to me the many benefits which would directly result from the restoration project. He, the surveyors, the work crews were all phenomenal. They did an expert job, evidenced by the stability of the banks and the facilitated water flow. The bulldozer operator even lifted one of the felled trees into my backyard with his machine so I can use it for a dead tree snag for owl and woodpecker houses.
Mr. Gordon promised it would aid the aquatic wildlife as well, and I think the American Belted Kingfisher and the herons that now fish daily in my backyard would agree. Kudos to all involved.
