DAVIDSON – Henry Eddy, the longest-serving volunteer for Our Towns Habitat for Humanity, died Oct. 1, and the organization is naming one of the townhouses now under construction Eddy’s honor.
In the Our Towns newsletter, Executive Director Terry Laney eulogized Eddy and noted that the sanctuary at Plaza Presbyterian Church in Charlotte was “standing room only” for Eddy’s funeral.
Laney wrote that past and present volunteers, staff and board members from Our Towns Habitat attended Eddy’s funeral. Eddy, and his wife Mary, bought burial plots overlooking Our Towns’ 29-home subdivision, Eddy Place, which was named for him. Our Towns will pay for the new Henry Eddy townhouse with the nonprofit’s internal funds, and donations sent in Henry’s memory will got toward that fund.
