Huntersville resident Sam James, who works for Raymer Funeral Home and the South Carolina College of Funeral Services, traveled to Fremantle earlier this month in western Australia recently to present a lecture at the Australian Cemetery and Cremation Association Conference. James spoke on “The History of Funeral Customs and Beliefs and How Those Customs Migrate.” He brought a copy of his hometown paper, the Herald Weekly, with him and arranged for pictures in front of the Railroad Station in Fremantle and at the Fremantle Port along the Indian Ocean. His trip lasted from Oct. 8 to 15. “I always enjoy reading the Herald and was glad to bring it along,” he said in an e-mail.
