CHARLOTTE – Helping Empower Local People (HELP) and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce announced plans Sunday, Oct. 17, for a “Souls to the Polls” campaign to get out voters in support of the city’s 2010 bond referendums.
HELP is a nonpartisan, advocacy coalition of 40 congregations, associations and neighborhood-based groups, whose members represent more than 100,000 people in Mecklenburg County. The group held its annual organizational meeting Sunday at Holy Covenant United Church of Christ, 3501 W. W.T. Harris Blvd.
Rev. Dr. Gregory K. Moss, of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and chairman of HELP, said, “At such a crucial moment in our city’s and country’s history, I call upon all faith leaders to educate and energize voters of faith and to especially help them use the opportunity to vote early at the One-Stop Early Voting sites.”
