CORNELIUS – The American Massage Therapy Association has designated Oct. 24 to 30 as National Massage Therapy Awareness Week, and Sheila Alexander, a local licensed massage therapist, has a community service grant to help seniors regardless of their ability to pay.

Using the grant from the national therapy group, Alexander is looking for seniors 60 and older who suffer from foot and leg neuropathy to enroll in a study. Qualified applicants will receive two 30-minute foot massage sessions per week at the North Mecklenburg Senior Center, 18731 W. Catawba Ave., from Oct. 26 to Nov. 12.
