The Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group recently issued a stage-one drought alert for the river basin and asked Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities customers to voluntarily reduce their use of outside water.

The regional planning group monitors water supply and noted that recent rains helped but did not restore the supply to normal levels. The panel is calling for increased cooperation by all water users in the region.
