Mattress store raises money for Christian mission  

CORNELIUS – People can buy a mattress at Sweet Dreams Mattress on July 26 to help support the Mooresville-Lake Norman Christian Mission.

The Dream Big mattress fundraiser will give 10 percent of Saturday’s sales directly to the mission.

The fundraiser takes place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 26 in the following locations:

Church moves to North Meck High

HUNTERSVILLE – The Neighborhood Church has changed its Sunday worship service location to North Mecklenburg High School, starting July 20.

The start-up church is moving from the Comfort Suites in Huntersville, where it began holding Sunday services in March.

“God has been good to allow us to move to this new location with lots of room for growth and expansion,” Member Ken McCarter said.

The church will take over the space recently vacated by Mosaic Church, which moved to a business park near Northlake Mall.

Neighborhood Church’s 10-11 a.m. Sunday service time will remain the same, with a pre-service fellowship time 9-10 a.m. in the auditorium at North Mecklenburg High School, 11201 Old Statesville Road.

100 kids attend Caterpillar Ministries summer outings

HUNTERSVILLE – More than 100 children in the Huntington Green neighborhood have been attending Caterpillar Ministries’ weekly summer outings.

Four groups of 25 kids meet each week for a special field trip and devotional time. Each group attends on a different day of the week.

Activities have included bowling and a trip to a water park. Upcoming activities will be movies, water wars and Bounce U.

Many churches have been involved with the summer programs.

One week, 45 of the kids attended Lake Haven Church’s VBS program. First Baptist Church-Huntersville has been leading the preschool camp every Monday. The July 29-31 summer program will be a VBS run by volunteers from Independence Hill Baptist.

Other churches helping out include Hickory Grove North, Davidson Presbyterian, Lake Forest Church and Christ Community Church.

 

Bethel Presbyterian offers Griefshare Support Group

CORNELIUS – Bethel Presbyterian Church’s health ministries will offer a new session of Griefshare in August.

Griefshare is a 13-week seminar/support group where the grieving can be around others who understand the pain of their loss. Each of the 13 sessions is independent of the other sessions. 

The group will meet at 9 a.m. Saturdays, beginning Aug. 16, in the fellowship hall, 19920 Bethel Church Road. Reserve a spot in advance.

Give Back Boutique holds third annual Birthday Bash

MOORESVILLE – The Give Back Boutique, a fashion consignment store that gives 100 percent of its proceeds to the Lake Norman Christian Mission, will hold its annual birthday bash.

In addition to the upscale apparel and accessories, throughout the day, the store will offer gourmet delights, special discounts and door prizes. They will also announce the winner of a Facebook contest for a store gift certificate.

The Give Back Boutique was launched by a group of volunteers working with the Mooresville Lake Norman Christian Mission. 

Lake Norman Christian Mission serves more than 4,000 families. Money raised helps fund crisis assistance programs, helping families in danger of hunger or homelessness, as well as education programs, helping families move from poverty and into self-sufficiency. 

The Give Back Boutique Bash will be held 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Aug. 1 at the boutique, 478 Williamson Road. Cake cutting will be held at 3 p.m. with special evening festivities 5-8 p.m.

Independence Hill Baptist invites all VBS special agents

HUNTERSVILLE – Independence Hill Baptist Church invites children to its vacation Bible school called “Agency D3.”

The free program will be in the evenings for ages 4 by Aug. 31 through rising fifth grade.

The VBS runs 6-8:30 p.m. Aug. 4-8 at the church, 10220 Independence Hill Road.
