I think its very good that they are running these contest to get kids to think about how they can use solar energy to do things better or completely different than before. One of these contest will bring about a revolutionary idea.

“With the population that’s up here at the lake, we’ve identified some 7,000 customers that need to be serviced. We think the timing’s right and the market’s right.”

Make that 6,999 customers!

Sorry Rick, at $350.00 for an oil change on my Range Rover, I'll keep doing it myself and put the $310.00 differnce in my pocket!

In strongly urging the board of commissioners to re-visit 4-year terms in 2012, Town Board member Connie Wessner displayed astounding arrogance and a condescending attitude. It was as if she regarded it as her duty to force longer terms on the citizens of Davidson: The Board should have "swallowed hard" in 2011, and "stepped up" and amended the Charter of the Town without a popular referendum. By backing off then they did a "disservice" to the Town.

Dmoore,

We are all entitled to our opinions, but to assume I did not do my homework is just silly. Though I didn't attend meetings (I work until 8 or 9) I did in fact do my homework. I read the minutes of the meetings, kept up with the news and papers, including the opinions of other citizens from the beginning. I took into consideration many things, but one thing it did not take into consideration was my father's outlook on the matter.

As a citizen who can't find a career in the town I live in it bothers me that the town just rejected over 100 jobs. As a citizen I am annoyed that I was eligible to work in this facility that was passed on. As a citizen it worries me that my friends have to move away for work because they can't find jobs in Huntersville. As a citizen I think it is sad that a word like "Jobs" was used as political jargon during the campaign season. As a citizen I don't understand why the board rejected the Planning Board's recommendation. As a citizen it upsets me that elected officials I voted for rejected something without doing proper research like visiting other mental health facilities. As a citizen it is alarming that people with mental health issues will either stay silent about their need for help or have to venture far out of our town to receive the care they deserve.

Dmoore, I'm sorry that you feel the way you do about me, but I assure you that my opinions are certainly my own and not a form of nepotism. Since you are using a pseudonym on here I am unsure if we have ever met for an extended period of time. I have a feeling that if you knew me personally as Stacy, and not as Danny's Daughter you would understand that I am very much my own person much to my father's dismay some of the time. It is a rare occasion that I agree with him and this so happened to be something we saw eye-to-eye on. I think it is unfortunate that because he is a member of the board some people think that it strips away my right to have my own voice on matters that involve the town that I live in.

Sincerely,
Stacy Phillips

Ms. Phillips, As is your normal, you based your opinion on doing no homework. Attend any of the public hearings? No. Attend any of the town board meetings where this is discussed? No. Would you like it if people made assumptions about your dad's view without discussing with him? I suspect not. Why not keep your thoughts to yourself until you know what you're talking about. I was at those meetings and I saw what CHS was trying to push down Huntersville's throat. I am very active in this community and I have spoken to all commissioners and even though I don't agree with Commissioner Bales and Phillips I'm big enough not to attack individuals personally. Facts are Facts...why don't you stick to them.

You obviously did not read or listen to their statements. They are not opposed to mental hospitals nor the need for mental health services. They are opposed to cramming a facility of that size in between a neighborhood and a school. They also mentioned the provisions that would have allowed future growth on the same site for CMS. (55,000 more square feet and a standalone facility -- on the same property)

The Commissioners that you are complaining about are in many cases the sames ones who have made the tough choices needed to make Huntersville what it is today. The sidewalks and low profile signs, and the smart growth. Take a drive through Pineville if you want to see an alternative.

You can be upset that the facility did not pass, but don't criticize the board for making a tough decision based on what is best for Huntersville.

Too bad the oral polio vaccine that they use in countries like India actually causes and helps to spread vaccine-acquired paralytic polio. That is why it is no longer used in the US.

If Bill Gates really wanted to help eradicate polio he would use his money to give these people clean water and proper sewage systems so the disease wouldn't shed and spread. Forget poisoning them all with immune-destroying vaccines.

Mark,
You know what is sad about this report? It has no basis in the "real world" It also has no fare, equal balance of view from the "accused" side. Mr. Lane has created a scenario in which he is a victim, when in fact it is he who is obtrusive, destructive and a real pain of a neighbor. I am glad that the HOA stopped him from doing what he was. The TRUTH is he turned on irrigation system manually, repeatedly, overriding the system timers controls and drowned brand new Junipers in a bed across from his home( Property which the HOA owns). Then he tore out the Pine Straw and dead and drowned plants, which had just been put in - "because I didn't like the way it looked"( Statement by- Jim Lane) and placed raw horse manure on the area and planted 12 or so paultry pansies... He was asked repeatedly to restore the area to its original HOA and neighbor approved design, he refused. The HOA removed his pansies, replanted teh junipers, locked the irrigation controls, and started its legal fining process and it wasn't until much later he decided to stop messing with other peoples property and restore it. It wasn't just Panises, it was his wanton destruction and alteration of property he did not own, did not have permission to alter and did not cooperate with his ELECTED HOA Board of Directors ( did he mention he had quit the previous year as a Board member himself ??! ?) that he recieved LEGAL, last resort fines for. All this is pblic knowledge in our neighborhood , because he printed up the notice letters the HOA kept sending and distributed to us. Yet, the news is spreading his lies like its some sort of hot topic. If not for our HOA, the Jim Lanes of the world would run around doing whatever they wished anywhere they wished wirthout consequence. Next time how about researching - THE TRUTH.. thank you.

Mr. Gandy has a vested financial interest in the Red Line. His vested interest is government subsidies to pay for his development project.

Mr. Gandy states "The N.C. Dept. of Transportation and its consultants tell us this project will create 22,000 new jobs and $5 billion in new development within close proximity of the commuter rail line, stretching 25 miles from Mooresville to Charlotte through Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville."

Mr. Gandy, if you actually believe that, I would encourage you to examine the lies made about the South Line. Light Rail in South Charlotte put out of business a Sonny's BBQ and a Texas Roadhouse restaurant. Not sure if you are aware, but Texas Roadhouse restaurants are printing presses. High end luxury apartments, condominium complexes and economic revitalization were promised. The only thing that's actually been erected is an ABC store, so the wino's and junkies can have easy access to their fix.

The people in the North were duped by Pat McCrory and the development...errrrr...Uptown Crowd.

Perhaps some research should be done to find out which politicians Mr Gandy has made contributions to and where those folks stand on the Red Line......

"And the TRUTH shall set you free"
